Year 6 chefs!!

19th November 2014

Year 6 children from Eastlea Primary School became chefs for the day when they attended Chef School at the Shiremoor Toby Carvery this week.

After donning their personalised chef hats, the children took part in a variety of workshops investigating different fruits and vegetables.  They took part in a packed timetable to help them learn more about healthy eating that combined demonstrations, discussions and the all-important tasting!

Although the children thoroughly enjoyed all of the morning activities, the highlight of the visit was the lunch!  The children helped themselves from the carvery deck, enjoying a nutritious lunch, filled with the delicious ingredients they had learned so much about.   Mrs Coleby, the Year 6 class teacher, said, “This was a new and exciting visit for my class which fitted into our school focus on healthy lifestyles.  We all had a super time.  It was not only a fun, informative and educational visit but was also a very tasty experience too!”
