Champion Rainbow Readers

15th July 2014

This year at Eastlea Primary some children really did find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!  Since September we have been running our ‘Rainbow Reading Challenge’ with pupils from Nursery to Year 6 encouraged to read regularly both at school and at home.

At a special celebration assembly on Tuesday morning the most dedicated readers were rewarded with ‘Gold Champion reader balloons’.  This year there were 48 children who gained the very special prize – a gold helium balloon, a pot of ‘gold’ coins and a celebration certificate.  These pupils had not only gained their gold awards but read avidly all year and there were some from every class in the school.
