Our STEM fortnight started well with an action packed week for all the children. Their enthusiasm for the different projects has been superb!
Bear brought the Rugby League Championship trophy to the school and some of our tag rugby players had their photo with it!
Some of the Rocket Tots were photographed too! The trophy was huge and worth £80,000...wow!!
Year 6 went skiing at Silksworth this week - a pre-SATs treat after all their hard work! They had a fantastic time!
Our Easter Challenge Golden Day featured an obstacle course coordinated by Year 6...

Our before school Street Dance Club gave a performance for parents, staff and pupils - well done!
Red Watch Fire Fighters helped Year 2 to re-enact the Great Fire of London by setting fire to the model houses they had made!
Year 6 Sports Leaders did an extra training session with Mr Dowson - they now have lots more ideas for games and activities!
Our Year 4 Golf Team played well at the school games competition at Arcot Hall on 5th April.
Well done to our Year 6 hockey team who won the Cramlington and Seaton Valley tournament! FANTASTIC!!!
Author Chloe Daykin came in to talk to some of our KS2 pupils on Friday afternoon. She stayed to sign books for those who wanted to buy one!
The 'FISH BOY' book caught the imagination of lots of the children - I wonder who will finish reading the story first?
We had a super fundraising day for COMIC RELIEF on 24th March. We raised over £250 by dressing in red, having a bun day and sharing jokes!

Reception and Year 1 loved their 'Bikeability Balance Bike' sessions this week! Everyone made super progress - well done!
Our netball team invited Beaconhill to come and play matches on our court - it was lovely to see the two school teams playing so well!
Our World Book Day had a 'book at bedtime' theme which involved us all coming into school wearing pyjamas and bringing our favourite stories.
Well done to our Girls football team who came 3rd in the recent Y5/Y6 football competition held at CLV! Our boys played very well too!!

Our KS2 singing club went to sing carols at Hartford Court Care Home on Tuesday 13th December. They sang beautifully!
Year 6 went to ASDA to sing carols and also did a 'bag pack' for their Enterprise Fund. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Our Christmas performances were excellent... Early Years did a lovely version of 'Whoops-a-daisy Angel', KS1 performed a 'Midwife Crisis'...
...and KS2 presented a super performance of 'The Christmas Code'. Well done to all!
We presented a record number of 98 'first time' bronze awards for our reading challenge on Monday 5th December! WELL DONE!

Year 6 prepared a fantastic 'Festive Lunch' for their parents and governors on Tuesday 29th November. They were very proud of themselves!
We had an entertaining evening watching the Newcastle Eagles basketball game on 18th November. Our school team reached the semi-finals too!!
We had a super day raising money for Children in Need - our Pennies for Pudsey event was a great success! THANK YOU!
We helped to put together Christmas shoeboxes with the volunteers at Doxford Church.
Becky from Vision presented us with a cheque for £300 from the 'Opportunities Fund' to help set up our THRIVE room - THANK YOU!
Year 1 and Year 2 were treated to a a lovely indian meal at Lal Qila restaurant on Tuesday 8th November. They tried lots of different foods!
Year 2 took part in a Multi-skills sports festival on Thursday 3rd November. 12 of our Year 6 Sports Leaders also helped to 'run' the event!
Our October Golden Day had a halloween theme for pupils in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. There are photos to look at in the gallery.
Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 went to the Vue cinema and enjoyed an 'Eastlea only' showing of the new Storks film! A great Golden Day!!
We had a real treat on Thursday 13th October when Year 6 had a full day 'Play in a day' drama workshop. We had some super Y6 actors!
Everyone joined in with enthusiasm, expression and commitment! A challenge for Year 6 - successfully accomplished!

Mrs Buxton came to our Harvest festival as the rain prevented us from going to church. She told us about how the Foodbank parcels are used.
We were delighted to receive all the tins, jars and packets of food for the Cramlington foodbank. These were just SOME of them - thank you!
A big thank you to ASDA who came to present us with a cheque for £200 in support of our Golden Days and residential visits.
Our Year 4 football team played really well in the school games competition at Seaton Sluice. They looked very smart in their new strips!
Year 3 took part in a hula hoop festival at Blyth on Friday 7th October. Eastlea won both the pupil and staff 'hoopstar' awards - fantastic!!
On Thursday 6th October Year 4 went to CLV for a rugby festival. They learned some new skills and played lots of games!
On 4th October Year 4 visited Northumberlandia for a science themed educational visit. They helped to plant bluebells ready for spring!
On Tuesday 4th October 12 of our KS2 pupils were chosen to represent Eastlea in the cross country championships. They all did really well!
On Friday 30th September we launched our new reading challenge. This year it has an 'AROUND THE UK' theme!
We dressed as tourists in red, white and blue and had a super time. In the afternoon parents came to share books with their child!
Thank you to the Rotary Club who presented illustrated dictionaries to our Year 4 pupils!
Mrs Lister arranged a picnic for everyone who had taken part in the summer holiday library reading challenge!

Taylor was delighted to captain the Green rocket group to victory at the Sports Day on Thursday! Well done!

Summer term 2016 writing award winners
Our singing club did a super concert at Scarborough Court Care Home to entertain the residents - they sang really well!

Year 1 found out lots about plants when they visited Azure Garden Centre, then they came back to school and planted their own.
Year 2 had a super visit to St Mary's Lighthouse despite the weather! They were praised as a credit to the school and for being so positive!
We celebrated the Queen's 90th Birthday in style with our Golden Day street party - see lots of photos in the gallery!
Two Year 2 pupils were chosen to represent Eastlea and instal the first of the 'yellow fish' plaques in Cramlington!
The plaques are to remind people not to pollute the drains as the water runs straight into the rivers.

Our KS2 Street Dance club did a great performance for parents and staff - a super and very energetic routine!
12 Y6 pupils took the opportunity to do the Bikeability catch up course. They hope to get their level 2 awards - fingers crossed!

We had a great time and everyone finished the race successfully...and raised lots of money for charity! Well done!

Our Year 2 class welcomed visitors from the Wildlife Trust and talked about what lived in local habitats.
By adding paint into the water they saw the damage that pollution can do to the streams and rivers.

On World Book Day we dressed in our pyjamas and Year 1 led an assembly which thought about books we read at bedtime!

In the week before February half term we arranged a special 'European week'. Each day had a different focus and then Friday was Golden Day!
Spain, France, Italy and Germany were given a special input - supported by Mme Taylor and several other staff members.
A visit to our French Cafe was a very tasty part of Golden Day!

On Monday 25th January Year 4 celebrated 'Burns Night' as part of their Scotland context topic. They sang auld lang syne and tried haggis!
Our Year 5 basketball team won the half time match at the Eagles game on Friday 8th January! We were presented with a HUGE trophy!!
Our 'Hungry Hatch' new catering staff uniforms look very smart! The winning design was created as a logo for the polo shirts and and aprons.
Our Christmas Golden day was super!! First we took Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 children to see Fenwicks window...

The KS2 Singing Club took part in the Big Christmas Sing at CLV with children from across the town. More photos can be seen in the gallery!
We had 3 winners of the Leeds Building Society Christmas Colouring competition! Each of the prize winners was presented with a chocolate gift!
CLV students came to lead a storytelling session for Year 1 on Wednesday 9th December. It was lovely to see ex-pupls coming back to visit!
Our French Christmas workshop led by Madame Taylor was well received by Y5 and Y6 - especially the chocolate French christmas cake!

A team of Year 5 basketball players have been given the chance to play at a Newcastle Eagles game in January! Well done!
A team of 18 Year 6 pupils took part in the indoor sportshall athletics competition on Wednesday 2nd December.
On 1st December Year 6 invited their families to a festive Lunch which they had prepared in the school hall!
Our first writing award winners of this school year were presented on Monday 30th November!
On Wednesday 25th November some of our pupils were given High-viz jackets as part of road safety campaign.
We were delighted to be presented with two awards at the Cramlington and Seaton Valley Sports Awards evening on 17th November!!
On Friday 16th October we had a sponsored event to raise money for our Enterprise visits fund...some of KS1 walked round the school field!
Year 5 and Year 6 did a sponsored 'bike or hike' to Blyth!
Year 6 went to see the author Curtis Jobling at CLV - his books have proved to be very popular!
Another author, E.R. Reilly visited Eastlea on Tuesday 22nd September - his books were also on sale!
