Year 6 started their STEM focus as soon as their KS2 SATs finished!
The Year 6 theme was 'fairgrounds'....
Several classes developed their programming skills - using crumbles.
Our Digital Leaders were especially helpful in mkaing sure everyone knew what they were doing.
Food technology was a key part of the STEM focus too - with pizzas being made in Year 4, Porridgies in Year 2 and doughnuts in Year 6.
The work culminated in a STEM focus GOLDEN DAY.
Early Years had great fun with the 'bubbleologist'!
Lots of the children took on the challenge of being inside a huge bubble!
There was even a bubble big enough for Miss Beeston!
Everyone had a great time!
Then they played with smaller scale bubbles outside.
Year 1's theme was toys and puppets.
The sock puppets were very popular.
The children made good use of the Ipads to record their designs.
Mrs Lister had an 'explosive time' with coca cola and mentos on Golden Day!!
The children stood well back...
...and Miss Beeston ran to get out of the way!!
Miss Betham led a CSI investigation ...
...the children explored the science of chromatography.
Mrs Thirlwell had the 'green fingered' group...
...everyone had the chance to plant a sunflower seed to take home
Miss Fox organised a ballooon building challenge in the library...
The ozobots were a big hit in the workshop led by Mrs Powells.
Year 6 had a marble roller coaster challenge!
Some of the designs were very intricate and well made.
We had a 'show and tell' event in the hall during Golden day afternoon to share the work each class had been doing.
A super week - thank you to Mrs Powells and Miss Betham!
