Eastlea sports award winners

17th November 2015
At the inaugural Cramlington and Seaton Valley Sports Awards presentation event on Tuesday 17th November Eastlea were the proud winners of two awards.

The first to be presented was our GOLD School Games Kitemark which was retained for the second year running!

Our second award came as a complete surprise and was a special presentation for 'Promoting and Demonstrating the School Games values.  Before the award was presented, Gill Marsden and Marie-Anne Dowson from the School Sport partnership explained why Eastlea had been chosen for special recognition:

The School Games Values focus on personal excellence through PE and Sport. They were developed by young people to identify what the experience of school sport should be built around. At this school, the School Games values are central not only to PE and sport, but to the school as a whole and it has been clear that this school value the experience of participating over the importance of winning.   Whilst the other awards recognise outstanding achievement in a particular area, this school’s dedication and commitment has been evident in all areas of school sport and competition, as they have fully embraced every opportunity for their staff and pupils, whether this be CPD, physical activity programmes, coaching, competitions, or cultural performances. Whenever you envision what the School Games Values mean and how they can be central to a pupil’s experience, this is the school that springs to mind.

We are rightly very proud of our award which reflects the hard work and commitment from everyone involved with the school.
