Author Vivian French visits Eastlea

7th February 2019

On Thursday 7th January 2019 Eastlea Primary School in Cramlington were visited by the popular children’s author Vivian French.  The children were delighted to hear all about her new book 'The Steam Whistle Theatre Company'.  Vivian also inspired our already enthusiastic writers by sharing her expertise as a writer and giving them some valuable tips on how to become an author.  Years five and six were particularly excited to meet Vivian French, as one of her other novels 'The Robe of Skulls' is a text that is used to inspire their writing earlier in the year.  Vivian French was very impressed with the work they had produced based on the Robe of Skulls.

Having talked to the children from both Eastlea and Shanklea, who had come to join us, Vivian was good enough to stay and sign copies of her new book which pupils had bought that day.

Before leaving Vivian said “This is an excellent school with lots of exciting opportunities!”  She also expressed a wish to pop in to see us next time she was in the area as she had enjoyed the visit so much. She told staff that, “Perhaps next time I could work with your younger children or do a little story telling with The Owlets (Our Thursday morning Toddler Group)”.
