Christmas Shoeboxes 2016

17th November 2016
Operation Christmas Child
On Thursday17th November a group of 12 Year 5 pupils were selectd to go and help the community volunteers at Doxford Church who put together the Christmas Shoeboxes.  This is an annual appeal but it is the first time that Eastlea pupils have gone to help out in this way.

We had a fascinating morning, finding out all about the appeal and how important it is to children living in difficult circumstances around the world.  Then the children helped the volunteers to put the boxes together - filling them with items which will bring a smile to the faces of the children who open them on Chrsitmas morning!

The people in the church were deligheted with how helpful the Eastlea children were.  at the end we had to 'tear them away'...I think they woudl, havge stayed all day if we had let them!!

Well done to everyone who took part and to those who provided the items to take to church to put in the boxes - a very worthwhile cause!  There are photos of what we got up to in the gallery!
