Eastlea School games GOLD Kitemark award

14th October 2014

Eastlea Primary has recently been awarded the GOLD kitemark for School Games in 2013-14.  This award recognises a schools' commitment to the delivery of school sport and competition and is a fantastic achievement for Eastlea who are one of only 6 Northumberland schools to achieve the gold award.  At an assembly on Tuesday Gill Marsden the Cramlington School Sport Partnership Organiser presented the gold pennant and certificate to the school on behalf of Marie-Anne Dowson (School Games Organiser)

We are over the moon to have been awarded the gold kitemark!  Having got silver the year before we had set ourselves the goal of achieving gold within the next two years – so to do so after only one year is fantastic!  We recognise the value of sports for all children and encourage as many pupils as possible to take part and enjoy participating.   We try to take up every opportunity we are offered and as a result we are well represented at all the town and area events.  We may have smaller numbers than other schools but we have great enthusiasm and commitment for sport at Eastlea.

Gill Marsden was also delighted with Eastlea’s achievement.  She said “I am delighted with Eastlea’s Gold Award.  It is clear that both staff and pupils show a commitment to PE and Sport and it is fantastic that their efforts have been recognised with this award.”
