Cycle Tour of Britain

9th September 2015
On Wednesday 9th September 2015 Eastlea supported the Cycle Tour of Britain.  Stage 4 of this national event passed through Cramlington as the riders cycled from Edinburgh to Blyth.  Year 5 and Year 6 were lucky to have the opportunity to view the cyclists on Station Road from their designated 'safe place to stand' following their afternoon of archery and dance at Concordia.

The whole school had had the opportunity to decorate two old bikes in the Northumberland county colours (red and yellow) and these looked fabulous on the bridge near to Durham Road.  Many of the other children, their families and staff meembers watched the cyclists as they passed closer to the school building on the last leg of their journey to Blyth.

Pupils were delighted to see themselves on ITV 4 coverage of the race - and even though our appearance was fleeting you could certainly hear the loud cheering!!  A great start to the new term!
