The theme for our reading challenge this year is RAINBOWS!!
Throughout 'lock down' our symbol at Eastlea has been 'rainbows'...
We even have our own Eastlea rainbow which appears in the entrance hall - and it was great to see it again on the morning of the launch event!
Nursery joined in the reading launch and for many it was their first experience of an Eastlea dress up day.
The Reception rainbow display takes up the full wall.
Year 1's display is in their cloakroom area...
...and Year 2 have theirs on another cloakroom wall.
Year 3's rainbow challenge display cups are very colourful indeed!
Year 4 have clouds to which they will add coloured raindrops as the weeks go by.
Year 5 know exactly what is expected for their challenge.
...and Year 6 are aiming for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
We couldn't have mixed class group photos this year - but this family group involved 4 separate classes!!
Some of the outfits were really colourful and others had been specially designed - everyone looked great!
Miss Beeston went for the subtle approach (as always!!_)
The sun shone as the day started...
...and then we had our weekly ZOOM assembly led by Miss Beeston from the hall - which all classes attended...
It is great for the children to be able to see all the other classes - the only time they can do this during the week.
Obviously the main focus was READING and the children got the first sticker on their bronze bookmarks when they read in class today.
Early Years classes had separate rainbow themed 'Little Movers' activity sessions in the hall.
Year 1 visited the library to look at and share the books.
Rainbow bottles were also made - a great idea!
KS1 classes made rainbow biscuits...which were colourful as well as tasty!
Year 4 wrote some creative acrostic poems to mark the rainbow theme.
Year 6 turned on their artistic flair and painted rainbows!
Everyone had the chance to bring in a £1 to enter our Rainbow raffle! £180 was raised for our library book funds - THANK YOU!
There were winners from each class and they were presented with an edible treat in a special rainbow bag! A SUPER DAY!!
