Welcome to Year One page.

In Year 1 we follow a broad and balanced curriculum. As part of this, the children will be given activities to complete at home.

The weekly homework tasks for Year 1 children are:

Reading
The children will read individually at school over the first half of the week. They will then bring this book home to practice again. Please write a comment or sign you child's reading book, so we know they have read at home. If your child has read at home then their book will be changed on a Friday for weekend reading. It is useful to have the children's reading folders in school everyday in the hope that we are able to hear extra readers.

Spellings
Spellings are assessed in school every Tuesday. The spellings are related to the Sound Reading Programme which was started in Reception and will continue through Year 1.

Numeracy Homework
Numeracy homework will normally be given out on a Friday, to be returned to school the following Wednesday. The activity will be linked to the work being done with the children in the classroom. We hope you will enjoy doing these tasks with the children.

P.E. Days
Children have P.E on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Children will need their P.E kits in school on these days.
